Cedar Veneer: Western Red, Spanish, and Aromatic Cedar

Cedar Veneer comes in a variety of styles and can be a very nice choice for many different types of projects. Here is some information about the various styles of Cedar Veneer and where they might be most appropriate:

Western Red Cedar VeneerWestern Red Cedar Veneer: This is also known as Vertical Grain Cedar, and although it is labeled Red, it is much closer to solid yellow in color. Therefore it is also sometimes known as Yellow Cedar. Its grain lines are thin, straight, and tight, and it smells like pencils, because solid Western Cedar is used for making pencils. Western Red Cedar Veneer comes in both regular and premium varieties.

Aromatic Red Cedar VeneerAromatic Red Cedar Veneer: This species has a reddish-tan (closer to red) grain with a significant amount of knots and rustic character markings. Aromatic Red Cedar Veneer has a distinctive aroma that goes well in cedar closets and chests because it repels moths.

Spanish Cedar VeneerSpanish Cedar Veneer: This wood is a golden copper red, which is a color similar to Honduran Mahogany. Spanish Cedar Veneer is known for its use in humidors, and like Aromatic Red, it has an aroma that keeps bugs away, in this case from the tobacco.
